Common Questions

First Aid Classes — Frequently Asked Questions

Our first aid classes cover comprehensive emergency response skills including wound care and bleeding control, burn treatment, fracture and sprain management, choking response for all ages, allergic reaction and anaphylaxis protocols, stroke and heart attack recognition, seizure management, and environmental emergencies like heat stroke and hypothermia. All skills are taught with hands-on practice using realistic training equipment.

AHA First Aid certification is valid for 2 years from the date of issue. We recommend renewing before your card expires to maintain continuous credentials. If your card is expired by less than 30 days, you can take a renewal course. Beyond 30 days, you will need to take the full class again.

For most people, we recommend the CPR + First Aid combo. Emergencies often involve both medical crises and injuries — knowing both CPR and first aid makes you fully prepared. The combo class is more cost-effective than taking them separately. However, if your employer only requires first aid certification, the standalone first aid class may be sufficient.

First Aid Only is $85 for a 3.5-hour class. CPR + First Aid Combo is $135 for a 5.5-hour class. Pediatric First Aid + CPR is $145 for a 6-hour class. All prices include the AHA certification card, training materials, and equipment. Group discounts are available for 6 or more participants.

Yes. We issue official American Heart Association First Aid and CPR + First Aid cards, which are accepted by employers, schools, daycare licensing boards, and sports organizations nationwide. Our cards meet OSHA workplace first aid responder requirements and Illinois DCFS daycare staff requirements.

Absolutely. We provide on-site first aid and CPR training for businesses, schools, daycares, camps, and organizations. We bring all equipment and materials to your location. Group pricing applies for 6 or more participants, and we can customize content for your specific industry or environment.

Heartsaver First Aid covers adult and child emergency response for the general public. Pediatric First Aid + CPR is specifically designed for infant and child care providers, with added focus on childhood illnesses, infant choking, and DCFS-compliant content for daycare and preschool staff in Illinois.

Many roles require or strongly recommend first aid certification: teachers and school staff, daycare workers, coaches and sports instructors, camp counselors, security personnel, construction workers, fitness trainers, and designated workplace first aid responders. Check with your employer or licensing board for specific requirements.
