CPR Classes for Teachers — School-Wide Training Across Illinois

While Illinois does not currently mandate CPR certification for all teachers at the state level, the Illinois School Code strongly recommends it. Many individual school districts — including Chicago Public Schools and most suburban districts — now require CPR and AED training as a condition of employment. Additionally, coaches, PE teachers, and school nurses often face specific certification requirements from athletic associations and licensing boards.

Most teachers and school staff need Heartsaver CPR + AED certification, which covers adult and child CPR, AED use, and choking response. School nurses and health office staff typically need BLS for Healthcare Providers. Coaches and athletic staff may need CPR + First Aid depending on district requirements. Individual teacher CPR classes start at $85 for Heartsaver CPR + AED. For school-wide training, we offer significant volume discounts: small groups (6-15 staff) from $65/person, mid-size groups (16-30) from $55/person, and large districts (31+) at custom rates. All on-site training includes equipment, materials, and same-day AHA cards at no extra charge.

Yes. Our American Heart Association CPR and First Aid certifications meet or exceed all Illinois state recommendations for school personnel. Our cards are accepted by Chicago Public Schools, suburban districts, DCFS for daycare licensing, and the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) for athletic programs.

AHA CPR certification is valid for 2 years from the issue date. We recommend that schools track expiration dates and schedule renewal training before cards lapse. We offer renewal classes that are shorter and less expensive than initial certification, making it easy for districts to maintain 100% compliance year after year.
