ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) is an American Heart Association certification designed for healthcare providers who manage adult cardiovascular emergencies. ACLS is required for ER physicians, ICU nurses, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, paramedics, and any healthcare professional who may lead or participate in adult resuscitation.

AHA ACLS certification is valid for 2 years from the date of issue. You should renew before your card expires to avoid any gap in your credentials. Most hospitals and healthcare systems require current ACLS as a condition of clinical privileges. We recommend booking your ACLS renewal 30-60 days before expiration.

Initial ACLS certification takes approximately 2 hours including skills practice and the written exam. ACLS renewal classes also take about 2 hours since they focus on skill refresh and updated guideline review rather than teaching from scratch. BLS (Basic Life Support) covers fundamental CPR, AED use, and choking response for all ages. If you work in acute or critical care, you need both BLS and ACLS.

Yes. We issue official American Heart Association ACLS Provider cards, which are the gold standard accepted by every hospital, clinic, and healthcare employer in the United States. Our cards are identical to those issued by hospital education departments and are valid for 2 years. Accepted by Northwestern Medicine, Rush University Medical Center, UChicago Medicine, and all major Chicago healthcare systems.

If your ACLS card expired within the last 30 days, you can take an ACLS renewal course. If it has been more than 30 days since expiration, you will need to take the full initial ACLS certification class again.
